Conclusion of the event (International) Open Online Creative Write Fest Competition- First Edition
Recently, from March 1 to March 8, our Write Fest concluded with massive success. We had not anticipated its final outcome. Here, we will discuss the different aspects of the program and its inception.
Before the Event
Although the event announcement was made on February 20, 2024, we had been planning for a week prior. We aimed to have everything prepared, leaving no stone unturned. Firstly, we focused on clarifying the event's purpose, understanding that purpose fuels one's pursuit of dreams. We meticulously prepared answers to every conceivable question. Finally, one day before the announcement (February 20, 2024), we began drafting event details on our Blogger website (the same platform you are currently reading). With preparations complete, we were poised to publish the event, hoping to attract at least 10 participants.
Although no masterchef show their secret spice receipe, we will share our secret. "Rehearsal provides the clarity of success," the hidden ingredient behind our successful event. You might wonder what could be rehearsed for an online event hosted on the internet. We rehearsed in our minds the execution of each planned aspect and anticipated potential problems. Our event's flow chart was meticulously balanced, and we were prepared to address any participant queries. Surprisingly, the questions posed closely matched those we had anticipated.
Outcomes of the Event
A total of 37 participants took part in the event, with 32 qualifying. We rigorously vetted participants' submissions using plagiarism and AI checks to ensure originality and human creativity.
Fairness and equality remained our top priorities, upheld throughout the event.

Some Interesting Aspects
Why was it exhibited for 8 days? Why so long? Answer: The event ran for 8 days on our website to transform it into more than just a competition. We aimed to elevate it into an exhibition of writing and a festival. Additionally, we announced that reader comments and feedback would contribute to 50% of the winner evaluation process.
Why does a view have one point and a comment have four points? Answer: Views were given one point as they indicate whether the audience read the content or not. However, comments received four points as they signify genuine engagement with the writing.
How was the winner calculated mathematically? Answer:
- Calculate Public Engagement Score:
- Multiply the number of comments by 4 to obtain the total points from comments.
- Add the total points from comments to the total number of views to get the Public Engagement Score.
- Calculate Judges' Score:
- Each judge provides a score for each entry based on criteria such as creativity, coherence, adherence to the theme, and writing quality.
- Sum up the scores provided by all judges for each entry to obtain the Judges' Score.
- Combine Scores:
- Multiply the Public Engagement Score by 0.5 to obtain 50% of the total.
- Multiply the Judges' Score by 0.5 to obtain the other 50% of the total.
- Add these two values together to get the Final Combined Score.
- Determine Final Ranking:
- Rank the entries based on their Final Combined Scores, with the highest score being ranked first and so on.
